THE HANSON MEMORIAL DEFENSIVE UNIT makes the stop on this play during scrimmage action versus the Loreauville Tigers. Hanson Memorial plays host to the St. Edmund Blue Jays on Saturday at 4 p.m. at McCloskey Field. The Franklin Hornets will make the short journey to battle the Patterson Lumberjacks on Friday at 7 p.m. while the Centerville Bulldogs will also take to the road to face the Northwood Gators on Friday at 7 p.m. The West St. Mary Wolfpack will play on Saturday, traveling to Abbeville to square off against the AHS Wildcats at 5 p.m.

Berwick turns to experienced youth in 2017

Berwick may have lost a five-player senior class with years of experience, but a lot of younger players who saw the court a year ago return, hoping to fill those voids.

The Bayou Horseshoe Pitcher's Association's Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista placed second in Class A at the Sid Plott Memorial Horseshoe Tournament Aug. 19 in Welsh. Gilmore finished with a 3.5-1.5 record and a ringer percentage of 60. Pat Pertuit won the event with a 4-1 record. She had a ringer percentage of 44.5. Charles Savoy of Jennings was third. Patterson eases by MCHS at Taco Bell Jamboree

Patterson got two touchdowns apiece from Dontre Nicholas and Dajon Richard as the Lumberjacks defeated Morgan City, 31-12, in the nightcap of Morgan City’s Taco Bell Jamboree at Tiger Stadium.
