MCHS rally falls short against Vandebilt Catholic

The Morgan City Tigers’ late rally against Vandebilt Catholic fell short as the Tigers were defeated, 7-5, in District 7-4A action in Morgan City Wednesday.

The Matthew 25 International 4th Annual Missions Golf Tournament was held Saturday at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild near Patterson. Uncle J Custom Boats won the event after shooting a 61. MCHS' Makye Richard, Tywaun Walker earn Class 4A Honorable Mention All-State honors

Two members of the Morgan City High School boys’ basketball team were recognized with honorable mention honors on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State teams.

Mustang Mike Beadle defeated Tyson Dean of Atlanta for the National Wrestling Alliance-North American heavyweight championship Saturday at the Amelia Recreation Center. Dean held the NWA title for almost 10 months, defending it across the United States. Beadle battled Dean to a 30-minute time limit draw earlier this year and was awarded Saturday's rematch for the title. While Beadle suffered a concussion during Saturday's contest, he finish the match with a pinfall victory. This is Beadle's second major championship within the last year. Beadle will make his next wrestling appearance in Las Vegas May 1, and is scheduled to defend the NWA title May 13 in Amelia at the next NWA Gulf Coast show Mayhem. The Morgan City Red Sox 10U team won the Santa Fe Cattle Co. Classic at Peltier Park in Thibodaux April 1-2. On April 1, the squad tied their first game, 6-6, with the Hammond Yankees. The Red Sox defeated the Ascension Biscuits, 6-5, in their second game. On April 2, the Red Sox beat South Louisiana Selects, 10-0, the Ascension Biscuits, 12-3, and the Thunders, 14-2, for the championship. Team members include, kneeling, Thomas Nini, Austin Cornes, Drake Rock, head coach Nick Rock, Shamus Lacoste and Bodie Hoffpauir.
