Patterson 12s fall to elimination bracket
The Patterson 12-year-old softball All-Stars fell to the elimination bracket of the Babe Ruth Southwest Regional in Houma Thursday after falling to Jefferson Parish Recreation Department East, 5-1, in a semifinal contest.
Patterson was held hitless, and no balls left the infield for the local team.
Jefferson Parish scored three runs in the second, and each team scored a run in the third for a 4-1 Jefferson Parish lead after three innings.
The New Orleans-area squad scored another run in the fifth.
Jefferson Parish collected just four hits.
Olivia Black suffered the loss. In 4.1 innings, she surrendered five runs (three earned) on four hits with five walks, one hit batter and two strikeouts.
Ana Vaccarella scored Patterson’s lone run.
While Jefferson Parish advances to the finals and must be beaten twice to be eliminated from the tournament, Patterson falls to the loser’s bracket where it faced Jefferson Parish Recreation Department West at 10 a.m. Friday. If Patterson wins, then it must defeat Jefferson Parish Recreation Department East twice, with the first game set for noon Friday.
