Buckner, Powell win area bowling tournaments

Steve Buckner won the Morgan City U.S. Bowling Congress Bowling Association’s 2020 700 Club Tournament Saturday at Charlie’s Lanes in Morgan City.
The tournament format featured bowling two games for seeding and then participating in a double-elimination bracket based on that seeding.
Hunter Boudreaux was the highest seed after the two games with a 487 score.
After winner’s and loser’s bracket play were complete, Buckner won the winner’s bracket and Anthony Falgout Jr. was the champion of the loser’s bracket. To win the title, Falgout would have to beat Bucker twice because Buckner was undefeated.
Falgout defeated Buckner 190-171 to force a winner-take-all match. In the second match, Buckner won 224-190 for the 700-Club Tournament title.
Also, Lisa Powell became the 2020 Lady Pelican 500 Club Tournament champion. She bowled a 580 scratch series with a 709 handicap series.
The Morgan City U.S. Bowling Congress Bowling Association also put on the Lady Pelican 500 Club Tournament Saturday.
