The Atchafalaya at Idlewild is ranked No. 2 course in Louisiana by Golf Advisor
The Atchafalaya at Idlewild golf course near Patterson was named the second-ranked golf course in Louisiana by Golf Advisor last month.
The rankings were compiled after golfers at Golf Advisor reviewed and rated facilities throughout Louisiana. Half of a course’s score is based on its overall rating and the other half on its subcategory average.
“I think these apps are important as golfers everywhere are paying attention to them,” The Atchafalaya at Idlewild Director of Golf Ed Selser said of the rankings. “To be listed as a top facility could translate to more day trips and overnight stays. We hope that additional outings and tournaments will come. The facility offers one of the best venues for all types of events from small outings to large golf tournaments — amenities like the clubhouse offering a spacious back porch and a separate room that could be used for registration or a private space for a group.”
Those qualities along with the “championship course” and the surroundings which feature the “natural beauty of the Atchafalaya Basin,” Selser said, make the course a “wonderful” place.
“This type of publicity gets people here to experience all of this for themselves,” Selser said of the rankings.
The course was second only to Beaver Creek Golf Course in Zachary. In addition to the top 2, other Louisiana courses ranked include: No. 3, Contraband Bayou Golf Club at L’Auberge Du Lac in Lake Charles; No. 4, Gray Plantation Golf Course in Lake Charles; No. 5, The Bluffs St. Francisville Country Club & Resort in Saint Francisville; No. 6, English Turn Golf & Country Club; No. 7, TPC Louisiana in Avondale; No. 8, The Wetland Golf Course in Lafayette; No. 9, Riverland Golf & Country Club in LaPlace; and No. 10, Belle Terre Country Club in LaPlace.
