The recipients of the Upside Down scholarships are Mary Szush of Thibodaux, Caroline Owens of Morgan City, Paige Faucheaux of Lutcher, Sean Adams of Larose, Hope Dempster of Thibodaux and Carly Adydan of Morgan City. Each of the recipients was required to submit an application packet, most of which they completed independently.

Tyrique Jones, 19, whose last known address is in the 1500 block of Plum Street in Patterson, is wanted by Patterson police in connection with a late-June June that left one person injured. Jones is also suspected to be connected to a string of discharges of a firearm in Patterson during the past month. Police say Jones is armed and dangerous.
