Patterson will travel to Assumption Friday
The Patterson Lumberjacks will be looking to improve to 2-0 when the squad makes the trip to Napoleonville Friday to face Assumption High School.
Both teams won their week 1 contests as Patterson defeated West St. Mary 14-12, while Assumption topped Donaldsonville 20-0.
Assumption led 14-0 at halftime and scored on the game’s final play when Teris Consonery returned an interception 108 yards for a touchdown. He also had a reception for a touchdown.
In the win, Sage Rivere connected on 10 of 14 passes for 138 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
Rashaun Jarvis had three receptions for 65 yards, while running back Tyran Cassie carried the ball 23 times for 10 yards.
Meanwhile, Patterson led 6-0 at halftime against West St. Mary.
The Wolfpack tied the score at 6 in the third quarter, and Patterson retook the lead at 14-12 on the fourth quarter’s first play.
Defensively, the Lumberjacks limited West St. Mary to just 12 points, keeping the Wolfpack out of the end zone multiple times.
An interception by Patterson’s Dillon Gunner at the Patterson 11-yard line with 13 seconds remaining secured the win for Patterson.
Also, Patterson’s Elijah Williams picked off two passes for Patterson’s defense deep in Lumberjack territory to prevent West St. Mary scores.
Louis Jones completed 5 of 12 passes for 71 yards with two interceptions for Patterson, while he also had three carries for 51 yards.
Kyler Paul led Patterson’s ground game with 13 carries for 88 yards and one touchdown.
Treylon Bennett added a touchdown run.
Kai Schexnayder led Patterson’s receivers with five receptions for 59 yards.
