Morgan City defeats Ellender 10-8 in District 7-4A softball action

The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated Ellender 10-8 at home Thursday.
While Morgan City held leads of 5-0 in the bottom of the third and 7-1 after four innings, Ellender rallied with five runs in the top of the fifth to cut its deficit to 7-6. Morgan City added three runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 10-6 lead, and Ellender scored two runs in the top of the seventh.
Hannah Prado led Morgan City with a 4-for-4 performance with two doubles, two triples and two runs. Other top Morgan City offensive contributors were Brynn Stephens, 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, four stolen bases and two runs; Gracie Verrett, 1-for-3, a grand slam, four RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs; Nia Lightfoot, 2-for-2, a double and a run; Haylie Crappell, 1-for-4, a double, two RBIs and a run; Hallie Blanchard, 1-for-4, a double and an RBI; Dru Gros, 1-for-4, a triple; and McKenzi Smith, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run.
Blanchard earned the win. In 6.2 innings, she surrendered eight earned runs on 12 hits with six walks, one hit batter and struck out five.
Berwick wins 5th straight
The Berwick Lady Panthers won their fifth straight contest Thursday, defeating Houma Christian 6-0 on the road.

Riverside defeats CCHS
Riverside Academy defeated Central Catholic 11-9 in Amelia Thursday.
