MCHS Lady Tigers defeat David Thibodaux 53-36

The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated David Thibodaux 53-36 in Morgan City Friday.
Morgan City outscored the visitors in the first three quarters, taking leads of 15-9 after a quarter, 34-17 at halftime and 49-26 after three periods of play.
Haylie Crappell led three Lady Tigers in double figures with 14 points. Other Morgan City scorers were as follows: Nikeisha Paddio, 12; Ta’Lea Smith, 11; Wynesha Webb, six; Jaela Robinson, five; India Richardson, three; and Kailanni Francois, two.
Thursday, the Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated Ascension Catholic 59-51 in Donaldsonville.
Ascension Catholic led 13-12 after a quarter, but Morgan City responded by outscoring the home squad in the next three quarters. Morgan City led 26-23 at halftime and then 45-38 after three quarters.
Madelyn Poole led Morgan City with 18 points. Other Morgan City scorers were as follows: Crappell, 13; Nari Clark, eight; Paddio and Smith, six each; and Iesha Huntley and Richardson, four each.
Morgan City will return to action Tuesday when it begins District 8-4A play at home against South Terrebonne in a 6 p.m. contest.
Vandy rolls past CCHS
Vandebilt Catholic defeated Central Catholic 61-29 in nondistrict action in Morgan City Friday.
Vandebilt Catholic took an 18-10 lead after a quarter and added to its lead with a 15-7 second-quarter scoring advantage for a 33-17 halftime lead. Vandebilt Catholic extended its lead in the third quarter with a 20-6 scoring advantage for a 53-23 lead after three quarters.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 15 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were as follows: Laurielle Bias and Brianna Johnson, five points apiece; Lexi Landry, three; and Jade Oliney, one.
Central Catholic will return to action Tuesday when it begins District 8-1A action at home against Highland Baptist with a 5:30 p.m. contest.
Patterson falls
to Abbeville
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to Abbeville 55-27 on the road Friday.
Zorrie Spain led Patterson with nine points.
Patterson will return to action Friday when it hosts Ascension Catholic in nondistrict action.
Tigers fall to
White Castle
The Morgan City Tigers fell to White Castle 56-33 on the road Friday.
While Castle led 11-4 after a quarter, and Morgan City outscored the Bulldogs 10-9 in the second period to cut its deficit to 20-14. White Castle held a 14-13 scoring advantage in the third period for a 34-27 lead before pulling away in the fourth quarter.
Devonta Grogan led Morgan City with 11 points. Other Morgan City scorers were as follows: Taaj Delaune, eight; Logan Linston, six; and Nylan Francis and Tylan Bennet, four each.
Morgan City’s game Tuesday against Lafayette High has been cancelled, and the Tigers will return to action Wednesday when they host Centerville at 6 p.m.
