CCHS to meet Centerville for homecoming

Central Catholic High School will look to win its fourth straight contest when it hosts District 7-1A foe Centerville for homecoming Friday.
Central Catholic (5-3 overall, 3-1 in district) has defeated Highland Baptist, Vandebilt Catholic and Hanson Memorial the past three weeks.
“You want to be playing your best football as the season is coming down the end and going into the playoffs, that third leg of the race,” Central Catholic Coach Tommy Minton said. “I feel like we are playing our best football.”
Meanwhile, Centerville enters Friday’s contest with a 5-3 mark and is 1-3 in District 7-1A action. The Bulldogs picked up their first win of district play a week ago with a 47-0 victory against Highland Baptist.
Centerville and Central Catholic met in the preseason in jamboree action with Central Catholic winning the contest 26-0.
Centerville runs a Wing T offense, while defensively, the Bulldogs line up in a bear front.
“I think Coach (Mark) Millet’s done a tremendous job over there,” Minton said. “He’s got them playing very hard, very physical, and I think he gets the most out of the talent that he has on hand.”
Centerville’s offense is led by its rushing attack. Andrew Cuvillier has carried the ball 61 times for 479 yards with five touchdowns, while Jaylon Cooks has 57 carries for 360 yards and six touchdowns. Morty Frederick also has rushed 62 times for 308 yards and three touchdowns.
Quarterback Braden Gaspard has completed 6 of 16 passes for 61 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Centerville is averaging 22 points a game (one win was by forfeit) and is surrendering 23.1 a contest.
Central Catholic is averaging 28.9 points a game and surrendering 19.5 a contest.
Davidyione Bias leads the run-heavy Eagles offense with 172 carries for 846 yards and 12 touchdowns, while quarterback DeDe Gant has rushed 59 times for 472 yards and six touchdowns. Running back Hugh Hamer added 37 carries for 258 yards and four touchdowns
Gant has completed 33 of 63 passes for 522 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions
Brooks Thomas is his leading receiver with 16 catches for 273 yards and six scores, while Bryce Grizzaffi has nine catches for 182 yards and two touchdowns.
