Berwick routs David Thibodaux 17-1

The Berwick Lady Panthers run-ruled David Thibodaux 17-1 in five innings on the road in District 8-3A action Tuesday.
Berwick scored two runs in the first and led 13-1 after two innings. The Lady Panthers added a run in the fourth and three in the fifth. The game was called after the bottom of the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Anna Vaccarella earned the win. In one inning, she surrendered no runs or hits.
Bronwyn Colbert pitched four innings of relief and surrendered one unearned run on one hit.
Berwick collected 16 hits, led by Mikah Ortiz’s 3-for-3 performance with two doubles, a triple, five RBIs and three runs. Other top Berwick offensive contributors were Alyssa Gray, 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs; Haley Derouen, 2-for-2, an RBI and a run; Vaccarella, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI and a run; Hannah Beadle, 1-for-1, a double and two runs; Emily Lousteau, 1-for-2, two RBIs; Maddie Carline, 1-for-3, two RBIs and a run; Colbert, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; and Morgan Toups, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run.
Berwick (7-10 overall, 2-2 in district) will continue league play Thursday when it hosts Erath at 4 p.m.
CCHS edges
Vermilion Catholic
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles defeated Vermilion Catholic 6-5 on the road in District 7-1A action Tuesday.
No individual stats were available.
Monday, Central Catholic fell to Lafayette Christian Academy 7-5 in Amelia.
While Central Catholic led 3-1 after two innings, Lafayette Christian countered with two runs in the third and two more in the fourth for a 5-3 lead.
Central Catholic responded with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game at 5, but Lafayette Christian scored two in the top of the seventh for the eventual win.
The Lady Knights hit three home runs Monday.
Alanni Landry suffered the loss in relief. In three innings, she surrendered two runs (two earned) on three hits with one walk, one hit batter and two strikeouts.
Hallie Crappell started the game for Central Catholic, and in four innings, she surrendered five runs (five earned) on eight hits with four walks and five strikeouts.
Haley Fontenot led Central Catholic with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a triple, two RBIs, a stolen base and a run. Other top Central Catholic offensive contributors were Brooke Lipari, 2-for-4 with an RBI; Crappell, 2-for-2; Landry, 1-for-3, a double, a stolen base and a run; and Emily Lipari, 1-for-1, an RBI.
Central Catholic (13-3, 5-1) will continue district play when it travels to face Gueydan Thursday.
MCHS falls
to Assumption
Morgan City High School fell to Assumption 4-0 in the Lady Tigers’ District 7-4A opener in Morgan City Tuesday.
Assumption scored two runs in the second and single runs in the third and sixth innings.
Morgan City outhit Assumption 5-4, but Morgan City committed five errors.
Hallie Blanchard suffered the loss. In seven innings, she surrendered four unearned runs on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Offensively, Blanchard led Morgan City with a 3-for-3 performance with a stolen base, while McKenzi Smith was 1-for-3 with a double.
Morgan City (2-8, 0-1) will continue District 7-4A action Thursday when it travels to face E.D. White.
Kaplan dominates
Patterson
The Kaplan Lady Pirates routed Patterson 14-4 in District 8-3A action at Patterson Tuesday.
No individual stats were submitted.
Patterson (7-12-1, 2-3) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Berwick in district action.
