Berwick rallies to defeat E.D. White in District 9-3A play
The Berwick Lady Panthers scored two runs in their final two at bats for a come-from-behind 9-8 victory against E.D. White in the Lady Panthers’ District 9-3A opener in Berwick Tuesday.
Down 8-7 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Berwick scored a run in the inning before adding another run in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.
Bronwyn Colbert earned the win. In seven innings, she surrendered eight runs — seven earned — on 11 hits with eight strikeouts.
Mikah Ortiz led Berwick with a 2-for-2 performance with a double, a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Other top Berwick offensive contributors were as follows: Savannah Hunt, 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored; Ashlynn Fitter, 1-for-4, a double; Bryleigh DeHart, 2-for-4, two RBIs; Colbert, 2-for-4, a run scored; Maggie Lemoine, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run scored; Ella Hover, 1-for-4, an RBI and two runs scored; Anna Vaccarella, 1-for-4, an RBI and a run scored; Hannah Beadle, 1-for-3, an RBI.
The Patterson Lumberjills fell to St. James 12-9 on the road Tuesday.
Layla Giroir led Patterson with a 2-for-5 performance with a triple, two RBIs, a stolen base and two runs scored. Other top Patterson offensive contributors were Makenna LaGarde, 1-for-3, a double, three stolen bases and three runs scored; and Erin Crews, 1-for-3, an RBI.
Rylie Chaisson suffered the loss. In five innings, she surrendered 12 runs — 11 earned — on 15 hits with five strikeouts.
defeats Morgan City
Ascension Catholic defeated Morgan City 12-0 in five innings in Donaldsonville Tuesday.
Kamryn Olivier and Hayley Ebbecke each finished 1-for-2 for Morgan City, while Brynn Stephens was 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Emma Thibodeaux suffered the loss. In three innings, she surrendered 12 runs — eight earned — on 13 hits with two walks.
