Barbier tosses 1-hitter in CCHS rout; Berwick run-rules Kaplan in 5 innings

Central Catholic run-ruled Hanson Memorial 11-0 in five innings in District 7-1A action in Franklin Tuesday.
Central Catholic scored six runs in the first and five more in the fifth. The game was called after the bottom of the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Central Catholic’s Luke Barbier tossed a one-hitter. In five innings, he surrendered one walk and fanned 11.
Carter Williams and Barbier led Central Catholic’s offense. Williams was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Barbier was 1-for-4 with three RBIs. Other top Central Catholic offensive contributors were Hunter Daigle, 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run, and Brooks Thomas and Bryce Grizzaffi, each an RBI and a run.
Central Catholic (13-7 overall, 4-0 in district) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts Centerville in District 7-1A action.
Berwick run-rules
Kaplan
The Berwick Panthers run-ruled Kaplan 10-0 in five innings in District 8-3A action in Berwick Tuesday.
Berwick scored one run in the first, three in the second, two in the third and four in the fifth. The game was called in the bottom of the fifth due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Berwick’s Seth Canty tossed a two-hitter in the victory. In five innings, he surrendered two walks, hit one batter and fanned seven.
Offensively, Mitchell Sanford led Berwick with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Other top Berwick offensive contributors were Barrett Hover, 1-for-2 with a double, three RBIs and two runs; Zeph Hoffpauir, 2-for-4, two RBIs; Chad LaGrange, 1-for-2, a double and an RBI; and Hunter Landry, 2-for-3, a stolen base and two runs.
Berwick (17-6, 4-1) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to face Kaplan. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
Morgan City falls
to South Lafourche
Morgan City fell to South Lafourche 3-1 in District 7-4A action on the road Tuesday.
South Lafourche scored two runs in the bottom of the first, and Morgan City cut Class 4A’s ninth-ranked squad’s lead in half with a run in the top of the second. South Lafourche added another run in the bottom of the sixth.
The teams combined for just eight hits with South Lafourche collecting five and Morgan City, three.
Mitchell Mancuso led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and a stolen base.
Logan Metrejean suffered the loss. In six innings, he surrendered three earned runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
Morgan City (5-15, 0-5) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts South Lafourche. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
Patterson falls to Erath
The Patterson Lumberjacks fell to Erath 8-4 in District 8-3A action at Patterson Tuesday.
Erath, Class 3A’s second-ranked squad, scored single runs in the second, third and fourth innings and three in the top of the fifth for a 6-0 lead. Patterson cut its deficit to 6-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but Erath came back with two runs in the top of the sixth. Patterson scored two runs in its final at bat.
Patterson committed four errors in the loss.
Reid Perkins suffered the loss. In five innings, he surrendered eight runs (five earned) on eight hits with one walk, two hit batters and eight strikeouts.
Offensively, Kaden Samuels led Patterson with a 2-for-3 performance with a double, two RBIs and a run. Other top Patterson offensive contributors were Dylan Fabre, 1-for-4 with an RBI; and Noah Bryant, an RBI.
Patterson (13-9, 3-4) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Erath. First pitch is set for 5:30 p.m.
