Nicholls announces 2020 beach volleyball schedule

The Nicholls State University women’s beach volleyball program finalized its 2020 schedule Thursday morning, cementing a second overall season with just over a month until first serve.
The Colonels kickoff the year on March 6, at the UNO Beach Volleyball Invitational, the first of four tournaments which comprise the regular season, before trekking to the Lonestar State for the inaugural Southland Conference Tournament, hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from April 17-19 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Head coach Kallie Noble will reprise her role for the Red & Gray after building the team from scratch last season, challenging this year’s squad to claim the program’s first-ever victory in the sport after finishing 0-18 during the 2019 season.
In a move designed to expose the Colonels to the sport’s best, Noble has sought out some of the nation’s top competition, even managing to secure a high-profile slot at the FIU Surf & Turf in late March against the likes of Stetson, California and host FIU, all of which finished within the top 10 in last year’s American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.
“We are extremely excited about this spring and the opportunity to play some of the very best beach programs in the nation,” Noble said in a news release. “The competition will give us the chance to continue to improve and grow towards where we would like to be in the future.”
Morgan City High School alum Karmen Peterson is a freshman on this year's squad.
Throughout the regular season, the Red & Gray will battle fellow Southland programs seven times, including twice against both Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and rival Southeastern Louisiana.
