DEAR ABBY: I have a friend who is an alcoholic. I met her when we first moved here five years ago. At that time, I wasn’t aware of her drinking problem. Over the years it has become very apparent.
DEAR ABBY: I am a single mother of two young children.
DEAR ABBY: I have been married to my husband for four years, and before that, I knew him for about a year.
DEAR ABBY: My brother is my best friend. He is also an alcoholic. It runs in our family, and he has been addicted for years.
DEAR ABBY: My mom is a recovering alcoholic. Her alcoholism has caused emotional distress and damaged our relationship to the point that I am aloof and terse toward her.
