Woman entered home, struck man, sheriff says

AMELIA, La. — A 21-year-old Morgan City woman was arrested this morning for entering a home in Amelia and repeatedly striking a man, according to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert.

Angel Strickland, 21, of the 100 block of Honey Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:22 a.m. today for unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, simple battery and disturbing the peace intoxicated.

A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence on Second Street in Amelia, Hebert stated.

Upon arrival, the deputy observed a woman yelling in the front yard. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the woman, identified as Strickland, entered a home and struck a man repeatedly. While speaking with Strickland, the deputy detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, Hebert stated.

Strickland was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
