Who are the city’s lamp lighters this Christmas?
The big mystery of Franklin’s Christmas parade and lamp-lighting ceremony is the identities of the lamp lighters.
Franklin’s Main Street Program board selects the lamp lighters based on their contributions to Franklin and gives them the honor of lighting the Christmas decorations.
This year’s lamp lighters have given tirelessly to Franklin. One works in the medical field. The other is an educator and contributes to Franklin’s arts community.
To find out who they are, residents are invited to participate in the parade and attend the lamp-lighting ceremony.
Interested participants can register their golf cart at the Office of Community Development at Franklin City Hall by Wednesday. School groups, sororities, fraternities, church societies, veterans associations and other community organizations that would like to participate may contact Arlana Shields in the Office of Community Development by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 337-828-6345.
Bring flashlights and join the line up at Jackson Street and Main Street at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and end at the Courthouse square for the lamp-lighting ceremony.
More clues to the identities of this year’s lamp lighters will be released soon.
