Vorenkamp-Matte exchange vows at Holy Cross

Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morgan City was the setting July 8 when Brittany Marie Vorenkamp and Eric Lee Matte were united in holy matrimony. The Very Rev. Jay Baker, V.G., and the Rev. Daniel M. Poche’ officiated the 7 p.m. double-ring ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Matthew and Donna Vorenkamp of Kingwood, Texas. The groom is the son of Tim Matte and Sally Lawton, both of Morgan City.

For the occasion, the church featured center-aisle pews draped in bridal white satin cascading to the floor and topped with Virginia white roses and greenery. Alternating pews were accented by candelabra. Family pews were adorned with a bouquet of Virginia white roses, greenery, Fuji mums, baby’s breath and bridal white satin. Remaining pews were decorated with white satin ribbon and greenery. Arrangements of white gladioluses, lark spur, Virginia white roses, Fuji mums, cushion palms, white snapdragons and baby’s breath were set on white columns that lined both sides of the altar and at the entry of the church aisle. Candelabra lined the back of the altar and were adorned with white satin ribbon and greenery.

Music was by vocalist Abbie Paradee, violinist Gina Doran and organist Lee LeBlanc.

Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a couture gown in ivory matte satin overlaid with organza. The trumpet silhouette was designed with a beaded sweetheart neckline and a bodice embellished with beaded and embroidered appliques. The train was chapel length.

Gracing her head was a tiara that held an ivory designer veil finished with beaded and embroidered appliques. It was chapel length. She carried a freestyle cascade of cymbidium orchids, Virginia white roses and stephanotis accented with pearl drop centers.

Alyse Raymond was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Matte, Courtney LeRouge, Renee Cabirac, Brittany Blenkarn, Rose Thibodeaux and Caroline Byrne.

Bridal attendants each wore a chocolate strapless gown that was floor length.

They carried posy bouquets of Black Magic Columbian roses.

Flower girls were Sara Thibodeaux, Grace Matte and Emma Matte. They were attired in tea-length ivory gowns with ivory bow headbands.

They carried baskets of silk ivory sweetheart roses.

Philip David Rapp was ringbearer.

Jeffrey Matte was best man. Groomsmen were Tyler Jensen, Zachary Vorenkamp, Travis Whipple, Jamarr Garrett, Bradley Matte and Matthew Vorenkamp.

Ushers were Patrick Rapp, Robbye Rapp and David Mark Burton.

A reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.

Backdrop for the cake and main focus of the reception was a 16-foot ivory floor-to-ceiling drape and curtain. A curtain of crystal beads was placed in front of the curtain with up-lights shining from the floor onto the curtains.

The wedding cake was a four-tiered confection covered in an ivory fondant. The cake featured a side quilt design. Brown, cream and dark red flowers were placed between each tier. Drapes outlined the top of each tier. Cake fillings were caramel pecan and Bavarian creme.

Tables covered in chocolate organza. Some tables had cascading Black Magic Colombian roses arrangements set on tall glass cylinder vases featuring floating rose petals. Some tables had Black Magic Colombian rose petals arranged in glass block cube vases and some tables had a centerpiece of glass cube vases of varying heights filled with dark red glass beads and floating candles. All tables had small glass votive candles and scattered Black Magic rose petals surrounding the centerpieces.

The food table and entrance table both had large centerpieces of Black Magic Columbian roses and Byhalia carnations set upon tall glass cylinder vases filled with dark red glass beads and floating rose petals.

Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Petroleum Club.

The bride is a graduate of LSU with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a master’s degree in Secondary Education. She teaches English at Central Catholic High School in Morgan City.

The groom is a graduate of LSU with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He is a civil engineer at Duplantis Design Group in Thibodaux.

They honeymooned in New York City and reside in Morgan City.
