VOLLEYBALL: Lady Eagles lose first district game

The Central Catholic volleyball team lost its first game to another Division V team since Sept. 1 with a 3-2 loss to Houma Christian on Tuesday in Houma.
Episcopal School of Acadiana was the last small school to beat CCHS, winning 3-1 back in September. Both losses came on the road for the Lady Eagles.
The first game was close with CCHS falling 25-23 and the Lady Warriors won game two 25-14. The Lady Eagles bounced back with a convincing 25-9 win in game three and a close 25-17 win in game four before losing the deciding fifth game, 15-11.
Celine Flores had a team-high 14 digs, four aces and nine kills; Abbie Bergeron had six digs and an ace; Amanda Barron had 10 digs and four aces; Brienna Hill had seven kills and four blocks; Caroline Byrne had 37 assists and three digs; Geralynn Garrett had five blocks, five digs and four kills; Meo Knight had 21 kills, four blocks and five digs; and Olivia Crawford had six digs and two aces.
The two rivals will meet again in the last game of the regular season on Oct. 27 at the Matchbox.
Power rankings update
Central Catholic is currently No. 3 in the most recent unofficial power rankings with a 15.84. Metairie Park Country Day is No. 1 with a 20.26 and Episcopal School of Acadiana is No. 2 with a 16.64. Houma Christian is No. 6 with a 12.53.
Morgan City is No. 16 in Division II with an 11.43 rating. Cabrini is the top team with a 19.05 and district foe Assumption is No. 9 with a 12.95.
Berwick is No. 20 in Division III with a 7.56 and Patterson is No. 22 with a 7.27 rating.
