CCHS, VC to meet in top 3 showdown

Central Catholic and Vermilion Catholic will meet on the gridiron Friday in a top 3 Class 1A showdown. According to the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s latest, unofficial power rankings, Central Catholic is ranked No. 1 in Division IV (Class 1A select), while Vermilion Catholic is ranked third. Early on in its marquee matchup with Vermilion Catholic, Central Catholic did exactly what the team had talked about not doing against the No. 3 ranked squad from Abbeville.

CCHS gets rematch with No. 1 VC

Central Catholic’s Jalen Johnson sacks St. Martin’s Episcopal quarterback Desmond McGovern during the Eagles’ 49-0 win in the bi-district round of the Division 4 playoffs. The Eagles’ defense has been especially good the last two weeks and will need another solid performance Friday when they travel to Abbeville to face top seed and District 7-1A foe Vermilion Catholic in regional round action.
