Louisiana (8-2, 6-1 Sun Belt) has had success against Arkansas State as UL holds a 21-17-1 edge in the all-time series and is 6-3 against the Red Wolves since joining the Sun Belt in 2001.
The Cajuns achieved their first undefeated home slate since 1987 after rallying to defeat the Warhawks, 36-35, scoring 12 unanswered points in the final 3:08.
For the second straight week the Cajuns had two players receive Sun Belt Player of the Week honors as Devon Lewis-Buchanan was named the Defensive POTW, while Brett Baer was tabbed the Special Teams POTW.
Lewis-Buchanan had a career-high 12 tackles including 11 solo tackles in the 36-35 win over Louisiana-Monroe. He also had 3.0 tackles-for-loss and pass break. Lewis-Buchanan stepped up his play in the second half posting eight tackles and 2.0 TFL.
Baer was instrumental in the Cajuns comeback as he executed an onside kick in the fourth quarter to perfection allowing Ladarius Green to recover the kick at the ULM 39 to set up the game-winning score. Baer also posted his fifth kick of 40-plus yards after drilling a 41-yard field goal in the second quarter to give the Ragin’ Cajuns a 24-14 lead going into the half, while also serving as the team’s punter for the 10th consecutive contest.
Quarterback Blaine Gautier posted 414 yards of total offense and four touchdown passes while also leading UL on the ground with 59 yards on eight carries.
Ladarius Green tallied his third multi-touchdown game in the last four contests. His other two-TD games came against Western Kentucky and North Texas.
Green leads all active NCAA tight ends in career touchdowns with 21 and is only four back of tying the Louisiana career receiving touchdowns record set by Brandon Stokley.
Green set both the Cajun Field receptions record by a UL player and the SBC tight end receptions record with 13 against La.-Monroe.
Following the ASU game, the Cajuns will have an open date before finishing the regular season at Arizona. UL is 0-3 all-time against teams from the Pac-12.
