Two arrested on separate charges after stop sign violation in Bayou Vista
BAYOU VISTA, La. -- A 28-year-old Bayou Vista man and 28-year-old Patterson woman were arrested when a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign in Bayou Vista, and St. Mary Parish sheriff’s narcotics detectives discovered oxycodone pills belonging to the man, and found out the woman was wanted on a theft warrant, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Dean Beranek, of La. 182 in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Monday for possession of schedule II (oxycodone) with intent to distribute and transactions involving drug proceeds.
Kayla Alleman, of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 7:08 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft more than $1,000.
While patrolling the Bayou Vista area, narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. During the investigation, detectives located oxycodone pills belonging to a passenger in the vehicle who was identified as Beranek. Beranek did not have a prescription for the pills, Hebert stated. Detectives also met with another passenger in the vehicle, identified as Alleman. Alleman was wanted on an active warrant. Both were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—A juvenile female, 16, of Bayou Vista, was arrested Monday for running away from home. Just before 9 a.m. Monday morning a deputy received a report of a missing juvenile who left her home in Bayou Vista. The deputy proceeded to conduct an investigation into the juvenile’s whereabouts including interviews with the juvenile’s friends and family. The deputy located the teenager at a family member’s residence in Morgan City. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Robert C. Beatty, 62, of Stephenson Lane in Centerville, was arrested at 9:18 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious person knocking on the doors of residences on La. 182 in Verdunville. The deputy also received information from a state trooper in the area regarding a man who was walking in the roadway. The subject was nearly struck by several passing vehicles. The deputy made contact with the man who was identified as Beatty. The deputy noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Beatty’s breath, according to Hebert. Following an investigation, Beatty was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $250.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Michael Ryan Ortis, 33, of Cedar Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:23 a.m. Monday for driving under suspension. Ortis was stopped while operating a vehicle in the area of General MacArthur Street for a traffic violation. Ortis was discovered to be operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Ortis was taken to the Morgan City Jail and was released after posting cash bail.
—Justin David Price, 24, of General MacArthur Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:59 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace, criminal damage to property and resisting an officer. Officers were dispatched to a Third Street residence in regards to a man at the residence causing a disturbance. Price was taken to Morgan City Jail. Price was released after posting cash bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Robbexy Figueroa, 33, of Marie Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:34 p.m. Friday for simple battery-domestic violence. Figueroa is being held with no bail set.
—Danielle Bennett, 24, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace-fighting. Bennett was released on a $370 fine.
—Dwan Washington, 30, of Taft Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace-fighting and remaining where forbidden. Washington was released on a $587 fine.
—Terry Lynn Johnson, 33, of Chitimacha Trail in Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:11 p.m. Sunday for suspended driver’s license and two headlights required. Johnson was released on a $466 fine.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Mandy Hebert, 34, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 10:59 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for hit and run. The warrant stems from a hit and run accident that occurred Friday around 8:30 a.m. where Hebert got in an accident at a trailer park and left the scene, Richard said. Hebert was released on $1,000 bail.
