Tulane names new dean of medical school

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Tulane School of Medicine has a new dean.

Tulane announced Wednesday that Dr. Lee Hamm has been named senior vice president and dean of the medical school, effective July 1. He will succeed Dr. Benjamin Sachs, who announced his resignation last month.

Hamm joined Tulane’s faculty in 1992 as a professor of medicine and physiology. He served as interim dean of the School of Medicine in 2007.

Before he arrived at Tulane, Hamm was an associate professor at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
