Three local girls teams earn state playoff berths

The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers, Centerville Lady Bulldogs and West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack earned berths in the 2012 LHSAA Softball Playoffs in their respective classes in pairings announced Thursday.

The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers _ the No. 2 seed in Class 1-A _ will tentatively host No. 31 seeded Ecole Classique on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the HMS Girls Softball Complex in the bi-district round of the state playoffs. The Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers captured the 2012 District 8-A Championship with a 5-1 overall record.

Centerville’s Lady Bulldogs, the No. 16 seed in Class B, will host No. 17 seeded Simpson on Monday at 4:30 p.m. in the opening round of the state playoffs. The Centerville Lady Bulldogs claimed the District 8-B Championship on Tuesday with a perfect 8-0 record after defeating Holden on the road.

West St. Mary’s Lady Wolfpack will enter the State Class 2-A bi-district playoffs on Monday at top seeded John Curtis. West St. Mary are currently seeded No. 32 in the State Class 2-A pairings, finished as the third place team in District 9-2A behind Catholic High of New Iberia and Delcambre.
