Thibodaux man arrested for failure to yield to ambulance
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Varice Kevin Richardson, 19, of Friendship Alley in Amelia, was arrested at 1:07 p.m. Monday for simple battery of the infirm, simple criminal damage to property, disturbing the peace by using foul language, and threatening a public official. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area responded to a 911 hang up call during which a disturbance could be heard in the background. Upon arrival the deputy observed a subject, later identified as Richardson, cursing while being detained by another subject. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Richardson became angry and hit a glass door causing it to break onto a 67-year-old female victim. The victim was treated by first responders. Richardson was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $3,250.
—Brandon Coleman, 32, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:01 a.m. Monday on a warrant from Morgan City police for domestic abuse battery. During a traffic stop on La. 182 in Morgan City, the deputy learned that the driver, identified as Coleman, was wanted on the warrant. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department.
—Blake Michael Dinger, 19, of Neptune Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested Monday on a warrant for simple battery. Dinger turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $500 bail.
—Andrew G. Frost, 29, of Elmira Court in Thibodaux, was arrested at 11:39 a.m. Monday for failure to yield to emergency vehicles. A deputy en route with Acadian Ambulance to a medical emergency in Amelia observed a vehicle travel for some distance without pulling over for the ambulance which had activated its lights and sirens. The deputy conducted a traffic stop. Frost was released on a summons to appear in court on April 17.
—Dennis J. Mitchell, 24, of Hickory Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:26 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and loud music. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip regarding the whereabouts of Mitchell who was wanted on the warrant. Mitchell was located at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. He was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $1,500.
—Dexter Clements, 26, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:50 p.m. Monday on a warrant from Patterson police for aggravated battery with medical attention, four counts aggravated assault, criminal trespassing, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. A deputy located Clements at a residence in Centerville on the warrant. Clements was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Verelyn Benjamin Cannon, 54, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:15 p.m. Monday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City on warrants for illegal possession of stolen things and theft. The warrants stem from an investigation into several thousand pounds of steel equipment that was stolen from a property located on La. 182 in Amelia. During the investigation, the detective identified Cannon as a suspect through surveillance video from a local scrap yard where the steel had been sold. Cannon was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Lelia Lane, 37, of Franklin, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for criminal damage to property. Lane was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $492.
—Ronald Armond, 18, of Idaho Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:59 p.m. Sunday on warrants for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office for illegal possession of stolen firearm and obstruction of justice. Armond was taken to jail and is awaiting transfer back to Assumption Parish.
—Leon Williams, 55, of Clements Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:38 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial. Williams was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Matthew Batiste, 54, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, turned himself in to Berwick police at 10 a.m. Monday on a warrant for simple battery. He posted $250 bail and was released.
—Brandon Grant, 30, of Utah Street in Berwick, turned himself in to Berwick police at 3:30 p.m. Monday on a warrant for disturbing the peace sixth offense. He posted $200 bail and was released.
