Teresa “Terry” Holguin Burgess
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista for Mrs. Teresa “Terry” Holguin Burgess, 74, a native of Las Cruces, N.M., and a resident of Bayou Vista for the past 38 years, who died Tuesday at her home.
She was born July 23, 1938.
Burial will follow in Ibert’s Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in Patterson. The Rev. Bill Rogalla will be the celebrant for the Mass, with the Rev. Angelo Cremaldi as co-celebrant.
She was a longtime parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, taught catechism and was a member of the St. Bernadette Adoration Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Joseph Burgess Sr.; three children, Jacqueline B. Broussard Boutte, William “Bill” Burgess Jr. and Joey Burgess; nine siblings, Emma Renteria, Bertha Sanchez, Alice Holguin, Irene Holguin, Concepcion Rodriguez, Delia Munoz, Peter Holguin, Silverio Holguin, and Willie Holguin; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at Ibert’s Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m., with the rosary being prayed at 1 p.m., followed by dismissal to the church for the Mass.
