Taco Bell hands Gator Rigging first loss

BAYOU VISTA — Reid Gonzales scored on a bases-loaded passed ball with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to lift Taco Bell past Gator Rigging, 6-5, in St. Mary Central 11- and 12-year-old play Thursday.

The loss was the first for Gator Rigging, who has already clinched the 11- and 12-year-old title in St. Mary Central.

In the win, Rustin Ratcliff tossed two scoreless innings, fanning three and walking two.

Dayton Clark and Lucas Hatch also pitched for Taco Bell.

Clark tossed an inning and surrendered a walk but fanned two, while Hatch pitched three innings and surrendered five runs on four hits with two walks and struck out three.

At the plate, Hatch was 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run for Taco Bell, while Garrett Hotard was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Other contributors for Taco Bell included Clark, 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run, Barrett Hover, 1-for-1, an RBI and two runs; and Matt Whittington, 1-for-4, a double and a run.

For Gator Rigging, Zeph Hoffpauir finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and a run, while Ian Valdez was 1-for-1 with a double, an RBI and a run and Cruiz Crawford, 1-for-2, a triple, two RBIs and a run.

Hoffpauir pitched four innings for Gator Rigging and surrendered two runs on five hits with three walks and fanned five.

Valdez also saw time on the mound and surrendered a run, walked two and fanned one in an inning of work.

Morgan City Rentals 7,

Ocean Marine 5

Matthew Mire and Luke Barbier combined for 13 strikeouts as Morgan City Rentals edged Ocean Marine in City League action at Complex Park in Morgan City Thursday.

Mire, who earned the win, struck out eight in four innings of work. He allowed five runs on four hits and walked six.

Barbier also pitched two innings, didn’t allow a hit and fanned five.

At the plate, both were 1-for-3, with Mire adding a double and a run and Barbier, two runs.

Other contributors for Morgan City Rentals included Dakota Gibson, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; and Jacob Blum, Dwayne Canty and Dakari Clark, each a run.

Even in the loss, Trent Hillen and Randy Fontenot combined for 12 strikeouts.

Hillen pitched two innings and fanned five while allowing a run, on no hits and walking two.

Fontenot pitched four innings and fanned seven while surrendering three hits and six walks.

At the plate, Hillen led Ocean Marine with a 1-for-2 performance with a triple, two RBIs and a run, while Luke Freia finished 2-for-2 with two runs; Dylan Mayon, 1-for-2, a run; and Fontenot, a run.

Charlies Lanes wins by forfeit

Charlie’s Lanes defeated Grizzly Marine by forfeit as Grizzly Marine had only seven players.

Rapid Trucking 15, Grizzaffi 1

Four players collected three hits apiece as Rapid Trucking defeated Grizzaffi’s Appliance and Furniture in Morgan City Recreation Department youth baseball action at Spinella Park Thursday.

JaQuan Gray, Tylon Mobley, Damondrick Blackburn and Howard Kinchen all finished 3-for-3 in the win.

Other top contributors included Keegan Lane and Laurielle Bias, each 2-for-3; and Dylan Duval, TyJon Folse, Mike Jones, Drake Hue, Elijah Brown and Ramye Jones, all 1-for-3.

For Grizzaffi’s, Ty Eschette finished 2-for-2, while Hayden Robinson, Vernon Singleton, Tylon Hollins, Brennan Sauce, Zaki Singleton and Riley Lodrigue, all were 1-for-2.
