Taco Bell downs Halimar Shipyard in league play

Taco Bell beat Halimar Shipyard, 11-8, in Swampland League action Thursday in Berwick.

Reed Leonard led Taco Bell (8-4) with a 3-for-3 performance with four RBIs, while Daniel Gray finished 1-for-3 with an RBI in the victory.

On the mound, Brooks Richard threw the first two innings, while Tim Shelby and Brandon Fryou combined to finish the game for the home team.

For CCHS, Bryson Barbier surrendered seven runs on three hits with six walks in 21/3 innings.

Ryan Ratcliff tossed three shutout innings for Halimar (8-4).

At the plate for Halimar, Josh Singleton finished 3-for-4, while Luke Landry and Barbier each finished 2-for-3 and Eriq Blanchard and Tyler Hoffpauir finished 2-for-4 and 1-for-3, respectively.

The loss was the third in a row for Halimar Shipyard. Halimar concluded its Swampland season today with an 11 a.m. matchup against E.D. White at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.

Coach Tyler Jensen said that if his team makes the playoff field that begins Monday in Berwick, they would not participate because his squad is “burned out” and needs time off.

The squad had just two weeks off between the end of its regular season and the beginning of Swampland league play.

Patterson 11,

Reeco Rentals 9

Patterson erased an early 6-1 deficit with six runs in the third inning and four more in the fifth inning en route to an 11-9 victory on the road Thursday.

After took at 7-6 lead after three innings, Reeco Rentals briefly took the lead, 8-7, with two runs in the bottom of the fourth before Patterson (6-6) retook the lead for good in its next at bat.

Taylor Harris led Patterson with two singles and three RBIs, while Spencer Landry added a double and two RBIs and Cameron Fontenot added two singles and two RBIs. Other Patterson contributors included Bryce Tabor, a triple and an RBI; Dallas Hamlett and Justin Morvant, each a single and an RBI; and Chase Martin, two singles.

Cameron Fontenot earned the win as he surrendered three earned runs on two hits with three walks and six strikeouts in five innings of work.

Earlier Thursday in a makeup game, Patterson fell to South Louisiana Bank, 14-10, in a high scoring affair.

South Louisiana Bank pulled away with a combined 12 runs in the second through fifth innings.

Tabor led Patterson with a double and three RBIs, while Hamlett, Martin and Jake LaGrange each added a single and an RBI.

Patterson could play Bayou Boys (South Lafourche) Saturday in a makeup game but a time had not been firmed up as of press time.

“We are on the playoff bubble so there is still a lot to be determined over the next few days,” Patterson coach Ryan Jensen said.

Robichaux Ford 9,

Skipper’s Sporting Goods 0

Robichaux Ford shut out Skipper’s Sporting Goods Thursday, 9-0, at Tiger Diamond in Morgan City.

No individual statistics were available from the contest. Skipper’s will conclude the Swampland Season regular season today with two varsity makeup games today at home, a 5 p.m. contest against Reeco Rentals and a 7 p.m. matchup with H.L. Bourgeois.
