Taco Bell advances to Swampland finals

BERWICK — Taco Bell (Berwick) scored two runs in the second inning to defeat the Diamondbacks (Terrebonne) 2-0 in Swampland League semifinal action Tuesday at Berwick High School.

Taco Bell, the No. 2 seed, scored two runs in the second inning for the win against the Diamondbacks, the No. 3 seed.

With the win, Taco Bell (10-3) advances to today’s Swampland League final where it will play top seed Synergy Bank (E.D. White) at 5 p.m. Synergy Bank (12-1) advanced to the finals with a 5-1 win against Jester’s Court (Central Lafourche) in Tuesday’s nightcap.

In Taco Bell’s contest Tuesday, Jeremy Boudreaux’s two-RBI double to left-centerfield scored Taco Bell’s Daniel Gray and Justin Morvant for the local squad’s two runs. Boudreaux finished the contest 1-for-2.

Other hitters for Taco Bell included Gray, 1-for-3, a run; Neal Theriot, 1-for-3; and Braden Billiot, 1-for-2.

Nick Duthu earned the win. In four innings, he surrendered two hits, no runs, walked one and fanned two.

Tim Shelby earned the save for Taco Bell as he surrendered two hits, one walk and fanned one in 1.1 innings of relief.

The Taco Bell defense managed to escape several jams in the contest with two double plays. The second one ended the game.
