Sylvester “Uncle Bep” Ruffin, 78, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 5:20 a.m., at Terrebonne Medical Center.
Visitation will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Morgan City Thursday, July 26, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum.
The East St. Mary Funeral Squad will perform at the graveside.
Sylvester leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lillie Mae Williams-Ruffin of Morgan City; four sons, Sylvester Louis Ruffin, Wendell N. Ruffin and Curtis L. Ruffin, all of Austin, Texas, and Charles E. Ruffin of Niceville, Florida; two daughters, Carolyn L. Kimble-Wilder of Austin and Olanda M. Gray of Lafayette; and the mother of his children, Helen Eluid of Austin; three sisters, Louise Ruffin Madise and Lillian Ruffin Randle, both of Morgan City, and Irene Ruffin-Louis of Port Arthur, Texas; eight grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nathan Ruffin and Eva Dorsey Ruffin; three brothers, Arthur Ruffin, Joseph Nathan Ruffin and Roussell Ruffin; and three sisters, Barbara Ann Ruffin-Welsh, Josephine Ruffin and Evelyn Ruffin-Wilson.
