Skaters, bicyclists ban at Baton Rouge parks

BATON ROUGE (AP) — Skateboarders, roller skaters and bicyclists will have to park their wheels outside of downtown Baton Rouge’s parks and green spaces.
The Metro Council approved an ordinance Wednesday that keeps skaters and cyclists out of downtown parks in an effort to better preserve structures including benches, steps and rails.
The ordinance already prohibits the activities downtown, but the wording is outdated and does not make reference of the recently built North Boulevard Town Square, where much of the damage is occurring.
