Possible school makeup day decision due in Feb.

A decision about how school days being missed will be made up will be determined during the February St. Mary Parish School Board meeting, Superintendent of Schools Donald Aguillard said.
Aguillard said most schools have at least two days’ worth of extra minutes built in, but some have more.
The school board has previously indicated no desire to add minutes to the school day to make up time. Thus, Assistant Superintendent Keith Thibodeaux has been adding emergency days in order to make up each missed day with an actual day of school.
Emergency days remaining in the school calendar are March 21 and May 27 through 30.
Aguillard said the likely recommendation will be to go with emergency days in the calendar.
The only anticipated problem with late emergency days will be the start of summer remediation, he said.
