Houma man shot in apartment invasion

HOUMA, La. (AP) — Authorities in Houma say a 26-year-old man was shot after two men forced their way into his apartment on Wednesday.
Investigators said two masked men knocked on the door at the victim's apartment about 3 a.m. and forced their way inside.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter says the victim, who authorities did not identify, shares the apartment with his girlfriend and their infant child.
After shooting the victim, the suspects demanded money from the woman and then fled, Larpenter says. The victim was taken to a hospital for surgery; no other injuries were reported.
Investigators are searching for suspects in the case.
