St. Mary Pony-13 team finishes runner-up
CROWLEY — St. Mary finished runner-up to Crowley in the Pony-13 South Zone Super Regional baseball tournament held July 8 to 11 in Crowley.
In the championship game, St. Mary fell to Crowley 10-6. St. Mary pitcher Jamey Fabre took the loss after striking out three in 2 1-3 innings. Leading hitters for St. Mary in the game were Joel Singleton, 2-for-3; Jesse Fontenot, 2-for-3; Hayden Pinho, 2-for-3; and Cade Thibodaux, 1-for-2.
In game one of the tournament, St. Mary beat Brown Park of Lafayette 3-1. Fabre got the win after striking out eight and giving up two hits in seven innings. Fabre was also St. Mary’s top hitter in the game going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
In game two, St. Mary lost to Crowley 17-1. Singleton was the losing pitcher for St. Mary. Thibodaux went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
In game three, St. Mary routed CSA of Lafayette 19-1. Beaubouef was the winning pitcher for St. Mary allowing no hits and striking out four in three innings. Leading hitters included Singleton, 5-for-5, Fabre, 5-for-5 with a home run, Peyton Trahan, 3-for-4, and Beaubouef, 2-for-4 with two-run homer.
