St. Mary Parish backed Landry for 3rd District seat

MORGAN CITY, La. -- St. Mary Parish voted with the state on the majority of races, except in the 3rd Congressional District.

While the top vote-getter in the district was Charles Boustany Jr. with 45 percent of the vote, representing 139,113 votes, he was the third-place finisher in St. Mary Parish with just 19 percent of the local vote, according to complete, but unofficial election results from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office.

The results in St. Mary were:

—Jeff Landry, 47 percent or 10,194 actual votes.

—Ron Richard, 29 percent or 6,134 votes.

—Charles W. Boustany Jr., 19 percent or 4,140 votes.

Multi-parish results were:

—Charles W. Boustany Jr., 45 percent or 139,113 votes.

—Jeff Landry, 30 percent or 93,524 votes.

—Ron Richard, 22 percent or 67,058 votes.

Local versus state results for the presidential election are:

St. Mary Parish

—Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, 59 percent or 13,883 votes.

—Barack Obama and Joe Biden, 40 percent or 9,448 votes.

State results

—Romney, 58 percent or 1,152,460 votes.

—Obama, 41 percent or 808,496 votes.

In the Public Service Commission, District 2 race, Scott Angelle won outright. There will be no runoff.

—Forest Wright, 31 percent or 6,354 votes.
