St. Mary AARP treated to one-act play ‘Nursing Home for Super Heroes’

St. Mary AARP held its monthly meeting Sept. 10 in lieu of its normal first Monday of the month meeting. The date change was due to the Labor Day holiday.

More than 500 members attended the meeting sponsored by Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi. A gourmet meal was prepared by Chef Freddie Ledet.

Members were also treated to a one-act play by the St. Mary AARP Players. It was titled “Nursing Home for Super Heroes.”

On hand at the gathering was the Walgreens staff offering flu vaccinations.

The St. Mary AARP board of directors thanked the many volunteers that made the meeting one to remember.

Vice President Curtis Leonard expressed his thanks to M C Bank for continuing to supply the anniversary and birthday cake, to MidSouth Bank for providing coffee and to all of those that contributed cash and canned goods to the St. Mary Outreach and Emergency Aid program.

The next AARP monthly meeting will be held on Oct. 2. Members should check their St. Mary AARP newsletter for details.
