Nicholls Reading Council recognizes local winners

Kindergarten- through second-grade winners in the Louisiana Reading Association’s Young Authors Contest sponsored by the Nicholls State University Reading Council are Aidan Teague, Isabella Arceneaux, Luis Zuniga, Taylor Lucore, Alicea Franklin, Reece Arceneaux, Jude Hebert, Kailynn Gaudet and Reese Leonard. Teachers: Joy Hebert, Noel Jett, Veronica Governale, Michelle Besse, Felicia Stevens, Jenny Williams, Shelly Suire and Gail Breaux. M C Bank donated the trophies. Bank representative Frances Dupre was on hand to present the awards. Also on hand were Nicholls Reading Council officers Veronica Governale, president; Katie Hunter, vice president; Kay Arceneaux, secretary; and Monica Governale, treasurer.

Top school employees

The St. Mary Parish School Board recognized its top employees of the month during a meeting Thursday in Centerville. Employees honored include, from left, Barbara “Bobby” Thibodeaux, a Title I paraprofessional at J.B. Maitland Elementary School, and Jennifer Loupe, a chemistry teacher at Berwick High School. Also honored was Jody Pillsbury, family and consumer science teacher at Centerville High School.

No. 2 CCHS will host No. 15 St. Mary today
