Colts win Turkey Bowl; Tigers take Bayou Bowl
The Colts capped an undefeated season in Atchafalaya Football League play by winning the annual Turkey Bowl Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
The Colts defeated the Saints 20-12 and finished the season with a 6-0 mark.
On Nov. 11, the Tigers defeated the Wildcats 30-7 to win the Berwick-Bayou Vista Flag Football League’s Bayou Bowl.
The Tigers finished the season 15-1.
No statistics were available from the contest.
In Saturday’s Turkey Bowl championship, the Colts were led offensively by Deandre Jackson and Gage Todd.
Jackson rushed for 194 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown; while Todd rushed for 104 yards, scored two touchdowns, and had a 30-yard kickoff return.
Also, Keylon Williams rushed for 32 yards and had a point-after attempt.
Solid defense was turned in by Khyre Willis, who recorded an interception; and Alan Livingston, Sam Walker and Jackson.
For the Saints, quarterback Ethan Nguyen completed four passes to Leon Williams totaling 68 yards.
Davidyone Bias ran for 52 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown, while Jovian Jones scored a touchdown on a 49-yard run.
On the other side of the ball, solid defense was turned in by William LaRocca, Williams, Jones, Bias and Montrell Gould.
In the third-place game, the Chiefs defeated the Vikings 19-8.
Matthew Griffin rushed for 86 yards, including touchdown runs of 30 and 45 yards, while Devonte Grogan ran for 53 yards.
Quarterback Christian Scribner rushed for 28 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown.
For the Chiefs’ defense, multiple defenders turned in solid performances, including Kyle Ring, who recorded a fumble recovery.
For the Vikings, Jamul Sparrow rushed for 45 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown run, while Reed Gonzales added 41 yards on the ground.
Other top contributors included Landon Harris, 35 rushing yards and a two-point PAT kick
Hunter Landry ran for 25 yards, while Devin Leblanc completed a 10-yard pass to Parker Mayea.
Solid defense for the Vikings was turned in by Harris and Alex Orlando.
