Softball, baseball dates set

The Morgan City Recreation Department registration and tryout dates for T-ball and baseball leagues are ongoing.
Registration will continue until March 16 at the recreation office, 915 Everett St., Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office will be closed daily from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
Those who wish to sign up for T-ball must be 5 years old by May 1 and cannot turn 7 years old until after April 30 of this year.
Minor League is open to any youth who will be 7 years old by May 1 and who will not turn 9 years old until after April 30.
City League is open to those who will be 9 years old by May 1 but will not turn 11 years old until after April 30.
Dixie League play is open to athletes who will be 11 years old by May 1 and will not turn 13 years old until after April 30.
Fees for each league are $40 for one participant per family. A second participant in a family will pay $25 and a third will pay $15. No family will be charged more than $80 in registration fees.
Tryouts, which are only for those who have not played before or are moving up to a new age group, will be held March 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Norman Park for Minor League participants. City and Dixie leagues will hold its tryouts on March 20 and 21, respectively, at 5:30 p.m. both days at Norman Park.
Softball registration information will be coming at a later date.
Elsewhere, local youth baseball and softball registration will conclude in Patterson today as well as baseball registration in Berwick and Bayou Vista.
In Patterson, signups for baseball, softball and T-ball will be end today at the Patterson Area Civic Center. Signups will be taken from 5-7 p.m.
Tryouts for baseball will be held Monday, while softball tryouts will be held March 19, both at 6 p.m. at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.
Opening ceremonies will be held March 24 and will feature a baseball tournament and a fundraiser raffle.
In Berwick and Bayou Vista, St. Mary Central Dixie Youth baseball signups will end today. Signups will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the Berwick Civic Complex.
To be eligible, youngsters must be 5 years of age on May 1 and no older than 12 on April 30.
Registration will be $30 per child and $20 for additional children from the same family.
Tryouts will be held Saturday.
On Monday at 6:30 p.m., a meeting will be held at the Bayou Vista Community Center for anyone interested in coaching a Pony League team in St. Mary Parish.

Meanwhile, the Berwick-Bayou Vista Softball annual meeting will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Berwick Civic Complex.
The meeting is for all head and assistant coaches along with any parents and guardian.
During the meeting, new board members will be elected and new bylaws will be voted on.
Elsewhere, Kemper Williams Park will be having an organizational spring league meeting for Adult Softball Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Patterson Area Civic Center.
