Sheriff’s ‘Camp Watch’
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has launched Camp Watch, a cooperative registration program designed to help keep camps and camp owners safe. Owners can participate in Camp Watch by providing information about a camp and the areas in which they typically hunt, fish and recreate. Each camp will be issued a corresponding numbered plate to be attached to the property. Camp Watch will aid deputies in their day to day patrols as well as with criminal investigations and search and rescue operations. Persons interested in participating in Camp Watch may contact the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin at 337-828-1960 and in Morgan City at 985-384-1622. Deputies in the marine division will also have registration forms and plates available while on patrol in the waterways of St. Mary. From left above are Lts. Darus Turner, Ross Mire and Nick Rogers, all members of the SMPSO Marine Division.
