Ribbon-cutting ceremony held for new restaurant in Patterson
Rockin’ Rooster held its grand opening Saturday and was welcomed into the Patterson community by Mayor Rodney Grogan who pointed out that getting restaurants and other businesses like this will help expand the tax base for Patterson and the parish. “It is good to see this building right on the highway filled again and not empty,” said Kevin Voisin, parish councilman. Rockin’ Rooster is located at the former Danny’s Fried Chicken on the corner of U.S. 90 and Bernard Street. The restaurant specializes in chicken preparations and also sells Cuban sandwiches and gumbo. Grilled red snapper topped with shrimp etouffee is featured on Fridays, said owner Michael Lopez. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Included in the photos are Virginia Smith, Nirma Matilla, Cecilia Solano, Jessica Jamand, staff members; Donna Meyer, St. Mary Parish Chamber of Commerce president; Juan Lopez, restaurant manager; Lopez; Voisin; Grogan; Karen Froreich of Morgan City Bank; Frank Fink, parish economic development director; Heather Verret; Harry Verret; Donald Verret; Preston Verret; and Jacqueline Arceneaux.
