Relay theme decorating encouraged

Relay for Life of St. Mary Parish-Franklin will be held April 27 at Franklin Senior High School beginning at 4 p.m.

The City of Franklin is asking citizens, businesses, schools and organizations to get creative with the theme for this year’s Relay for Life, “Groovin’ for a Cure” and the color purple.

“Many people in this area have been touched by cancer, whether it’s a family member or friend,” Mayor Raymond Harris said. “Maybe they have had cancer. Everyone wants to get involved, and by painting Franklin purple they can be a part of Relay for Life. I’d like to see the entire city purple in support of the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.”

Signs, banners, posters and window and lawn displays are all welcome. Break out your bell-bottomed jeans, fringed vests, the color purple and get into the spirit! Don’t forget to check out the Relay for Life of St. Mary Parish —Franklin Facebook page:
