Reimbursement grants available in historic dist

Reimbursement grants are available for façade and exterior downtown business improvements and repairs in the Franklin Historic District.

The funds have been made available from the state to the St. Mary Visitor Enterprise Fund on behalf of the St. Mary Tourist Commission

Ten grants of up to $500 for painting homes in Franklin’s historic district are available. Applicants must submit a copy of a completed documentation form from the city’s Zoning, Permitting and Inspections Department; before and after pictures; a description of the work to be completed; an itemized list of all expenditures and copies of receipts for those expenses must be submitted to the Office of Community Development. Expenses listed without receipts will not be reimbursed.

Additionally, there are six grants of up to $5,000 for exterior improvements for downtown businesses in the historic district. Applicants must apply for and receive a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic District Commission. A copy of the application, certificate of appropriateness, before and after pictures, a description of the work to be completed, an itemized list of all expenditures and copies of receipts for those expenses must be submitted to the Office of Community Development. Expenses listed without receipts will not be reimbursed.

Applicants must submit their paperwork for certificates of appropriateness and attend meetings according to the deadlines and regulations set by the Historic District Commission.

The paperwork submitted will be copied, and the originals will be sent to Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau. Applicants will be reimbursed by Cajun Coast Visitors and Convention Bureau.
