Ragin' Cajuns football breaks season ticket records
LAFAYETTE — Another record fell in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette athletic department last week as season ticket sales for the upcoming Ragin’ Cajuns football season surpassed the 11,000 mark, breaking the mark set a year ago.
The announcement was made Saturday by Louisiana ticket manager Matt Casbon.
“On behalf of the athletic department, I’d like to thank our fans who came out and renewed their season tickets early and those who purchased season tickets for the first time this year,” Casbon said in a university release. “To break our season ticket record so early in the year is a sign of what great support that we have here.”
As of Friday, 11,098 season tickets were sold for the upcoming season, surpassing the school and Sun Belt record of 10,841 the Cajuns set a year ago.
“Although I’m excited to break the record yet again, I am still looking for a sellout,” ULL head coach Mark Hudspeth said in the release. “If 40,000 can make it to New Orleans for the bowl, then we can sellout 31,000 at home. I know we’ll get there.”
As an added value to Cajuns fans, work continues in adding bench back seating in sections B, C, E, F, UB and UF in Cajun Field. When the project is completed before the Sept. 14 home opener vs. Nicholls State, all of the seats in the stadium’s lower bowl (except sections A & G) on the press box side will offer either chair-back or bench-back seats
Fans interested in purchasing season tickets, including some of the remaining bench-back seats, can do so by visiting the Ticket Central page on RaginCajuns.com or by contacting the CajunDome ticket office either in person or at (337-265-2100) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
