Police: Man, woman found with drugs, child
MORGAN CITY, La. -- A 23-year-old man and 20-year-old woman were arrested Wednesday across from a baseball park in Morgan City after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s narcotics detectives found synthetic cannabinoids on them, and discovered a child in the vehicle, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
In a news release, Hebert identified the pair arrested at 6:12 p.m. Wednesday as:
—Christina Breaux, 20, of the Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested for possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, distribution of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, and violation of a drug free zone.
—Raymond Miller III, 23, of Franklin Street in Morgan City, was arrested for possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a drug free zone, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer, and on a warrant for probation violation.
Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle parked at a business on Federal Avenue in Morgan City across the street from a youth baseball park. The vehicle was occupied by Miller. Detectives knew that Miller had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Detectives made contact with Miller and arrested him. Miller then attempted to destroy a bag of synthetic cannabinoids in his possession while pulling away from detectives, Hebert said.
Through further investigation, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Breaux, was found to be in possession of several more bags of synthetic cannabinoids, Hebert said.
A child was present in the vehicle at the time the illegal drugs were found, he said.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Breaux’s and Miller’s residence and located more synthetic cannabinoids and drug paraphernalia items, Hebert said.
Breaux and Miller were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set for Miller or Breaux.
