Pickup hits police car, couple arrested on drug charges, sheriff says
BERWICK, La. — A husband and wife were arrested Tuesday in Berwick on drug charges after a pickup truck they were in backed into a Berwick police car, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
A deputy responded to a vehicle crash involving a Berwick police car near the intersection of Pacific and Third streets in Berwick, which resulted in the arrest of the couple.
David Paul Hebert, 46, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday for possession of schedule IV (Soma).
Mandy Lynn Hebert, 34, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 10:36 a.m. Tuesday for possession of schedule IV (Clonazepam).
During the investigation, the deputy located a Soma pill on David Hebert who was driving a pickup truck that backed into the police unit, Hebert said. Also, a passenger, Mandy Hebert, was found to have Clonazepam pills in her purse, Hebert said.
Both were taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
