With the 79th Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival approaching, the Artists Guild Unlimited has been working to complete its 51st Annual Show and Sale at the Everett Street Gallery. Making an annual donation is Larry Callais, M C Bank president and CEO; Karen Spinella, Artist Guild Unlimited chairperson; and Frances Dupre, M C Bank human resources/ marketing director. The annual show and sale will open from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Everett Street Gallery located in the historical district and will continue daily through Sept. 20.
The Morgan City Oilfield Fishing Rodeo made a $5,000 donation to South Central Louisiana Technical College Friday at the Young Memorial Campus in Morgan City. The donation will be used for scholarships in the Marine, Welding or Commercial Driving programs. Bayou Vista Knights of Columbus Council 6211 Grand Knight Huey Daigle awarded $100 Catholic Youth Leadership Awards to Olivia Gilbert and Drew Landry. Two winners of the competition are awarded every year and advance to the regional competition and possible state competition. Landry and Gilbert were both graduating seniors of Berwick High School this year and are members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista.
