Patterson woman arrested, accused of theft from employer
A Patterson woman was arrested Thursday by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s detectives after she cashed more than $3,000 in checks to herself on several occasions from a Berwick business where she was office manager, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
Leisha Bourgeois McGraw, 33, of Red Cypress Road in Patterson was arrested at 11:16 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for theft. On April 1, an investigation began into a complaint of a theft from a business in Berwick. During the investigation, the detective learned that McGraw, a former office manager, cashed more than $3,000 in checks to herself on several occasions, Hebert stated. The checks date back to August 2012. McGraw was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Gerald Boudreaux, 60, of West Park in Houma, was arrested at 3:48 p.m. Thursday for improper lane usage and possession of schedule II drugs. A deputy observed a vehicle swerving on U.S. 90 in Berwick and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Boudreaux, the deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located pills identified as Lortab and Percocet, the report stated. Boudreaux was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on recognizance bail.
—Darlene Frazier, 56, of Carol Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:12 p.m. Thursday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at Walmart in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store security that Frazier was observed placing items in her purse. Frazier then left the store without paying for the items, the report stated. She was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5.
—Donnie Reed, 59, of James Street in Siracusa, was arrested at 11:56 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Deputies responded to a noise complaint at the above listed residence and made contact with Reed. During the investigation, the deputies learned of the warrant for Reed’s arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. His bail is set at $750.
—Christopher Early, 32, of Universe Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:56 a.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office narcotics division detectives assisted deputies on a narcotics complaint at the Universe Street address. During the investigation, detectives located marijuana, a pipe, and a digital scale belonging to Early, the report stated. Early was located in Morgan City. He was released on a summons to appear in court on July 5.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Alonzo Henry, 18, of Williams Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:48 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear to pay probation fees. Henry was taken to jail and held with bail set at $175.
—Ashley Richard, 51, of Pierre Part, was arrested at 11:35 a.m. Thursday for driving under suspension, no vehicle insurance, no brake lights, and a warrant for a fugitive hold for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for seat belt violation. Richard was taken to jail and held with no bail set at this time.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Troy Benoit, 49, of CJC Lane in Morgan City, was arrested Thursday for driving while intoxicated third offense. Police say that he was staggering outside of his truck while stopped at a stop sign on Lia Street in Patterson. He was said to have failed a field sobriety test and registered a .349 blood alcohol content on the Intoxilyzer test. Benoit remains in jail with no bail set.
