Patterson man arrested for unlawful use of an identification

A 28-year-old Patterson man was arrested Monday on a Lafayette Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear for unlawful use of an ID, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Dedrick Gant Sr., 28, of the 1400 block of Live Oak Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:34 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful use of identification and on a warrant from Lafayette Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear. A deputy located Gant on the warrants at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin. He was transported to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Roderick Hunter, 22, of the 100 block of Shady Grove Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:58 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of failure use a seatbelt. He also failed to comply with the conditions of drug court. A deputy located Hunter at his residence on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.

—Bryon Boudreaux Jr., 42, of the 1700 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 8:14 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of no vehicle registration. A deputy located Boudreaux at his residence on the warrant. He was taken to the parish jail and held. Boudreaux was released on $309.50 bail.

—Cassey Simpson, 28, of the 3500 block of La. 182 in Berwick, was arrested at 12:08 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of improper turning and no child restraint. A deputy located Simpson on the warrant at a business in Amelia. She was taken to the parish jail and held. Simpson was released on $344.50 bail.

—Johnathan Evans Jr., of the 300 block of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of criminal mischief and possession of schedule I drugs. Evans turned himself in to a deputy at his residence after learning of the warrant for his arrest. He was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $2,500 bail.

—A juvenile male, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. Monday for resisting an officer. A deputy responded to a report of a juvenile riding a stolen bicycle in the Patterson area. The deputy located the juveniles. Upon seeing the marked police unit, one of the teenagers fled, Hebert said. After a brief foot pursuit, the juvenile complied with the deputy’s verbal commands to stop, Hebert said. The juvenile was later released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:

—Mechelle Yvette Favors, 44, of Cherry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:35 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to return leased merchandise and failure to signal a turn.

Officers patrolling conducted a traffic stop in the area of La. 182 and Martin Luther King in Morgan City. The driver of the vehicle was discovered to be a wanted person with the Morgan City Police Department. She was arrested for the violation as well as the outstanding warrant. She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and held.

—Michael P. Granger, 60, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:09 a.m. Saturday for a red light violation.

Officers observed a vehicle disregard a traffic signal at the intersection of Roderick Street and La. 182. Officers detained the vehicle and its driver, Granger.

Granger exhibited signs of intoxication and was given a field sobriety test, which he did poorly on. Granger was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he submitted to an Intoxilyzer 5000 test. The test indicated that he had been drinking but was within the legal limit, Crouch said. He was arrested for the red light violation and released after posting $152 bail.

—Gustavo Busques Gonzalez, 26, of Eighth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:13 a.m. Sunday for domestic abuse battery.

Officers were dispatched to a residence located on Eighth Street in Morgan City regarding a domestic complaint. Officers arrived and learned that Gonzalez had committed a battery on a female living at the residence. He was taken to the Morgan City Police Department and held.

—Whitney Joseph Billiot, 34, of Laurel Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. Sunday for simple battery.

Officers were dispatched to a residence located on Aucoin Street regarding a disturbance. When officers arrived, they discovered that subjects located on Aucoin Street had become involved in a dispute regarding speeding and noise on the street. Billiot reportedly struck another in the face several times when he was asked to slow down, Crouch said. Officers located a video confirming the battery. Billiot was taken to the Morgan City Police Department, booked and released on bail.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:

—Brittany Rivere, 20, of the 500 block of Little Pine Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 10:55 a.m. Monday for simple criminal damage to property. Rivere was released on $2,500 bail.

—Javontrae Levine, 20, of the 100 Muggah Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Monday on a Third Ward Justice Court failure to appear warrant for two counts of careless operation, Franklin City Court failure to appear warrant for two counts of hit and run and domestic abuse battery, and a St. Mary Parish failure to appear warrant for domestic abuse battery. Levine is being held with no bail set at this time.

—Shawn Welch, 42, of the 700 block of Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8 p.m. Monday for indecent exposure, urinating in public, and disturbing the peace intoxicated. Welch is being held on $877 bail.

—Shantell Blackburn Gant, 43, of the 400 block of Cleveland Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Monday for violation of restraining order. Gant is being held with no bail set at this time.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
