Patterson man arrested in Franklin area
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Lance Charles Billodeau, 20, of Kelli Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 7:43 a.m. Friday for driving while intoxicated second offense, obstruction of a roadway, reckless driving, criminal damage to property, and criminal trespassing. A deputy responded to a complaint of a vehicle parked in the roadway on La. 87 in the Franklin area.
Upon arrival the deputy observed a mud covered truck. The deputy made contact with a passenger who stated that the driver was asleep. When the driver exited the vehicle the deputy detected the odor of alcohol on his breath. The driver was identified as Billodeau. The deputy also observed empty beer bottles in the back of the truck.
During the investigation, the deputy learned that Billodeau had been mud riding near the levee. Billodeau performed poorly on the field sobriety test and later registered .105 grams-percent on the Intoxilyzer 5000 breath test. Billodeau was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail has been set.
—Jacob Nathaniel Klenert, 19, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:32 a.m. Friday on a warrant for disturbing the peace by fighting. Using surveillance video, a deputy investigating a fight that occurred in the Central Park area of Bayou Vista identified Klenert as a suspect. He was taken to the parish jail and held. Klenert was released on $250 bail.
—Ami Elizabeth Ortega, 38, of Weeks Island Road in New Iberia, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Friday for possession of schedule I (marijuana) and possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. A deputy assisted a Morgan City marshal with a suspected intoxicated driver on U.S. 90 in the Berwick area. Upon arrival, the deputy smelled the odor of alcohol on Ortega’s breath and person, the report stated. The deputy received consent to search the vehicle and located a suspected marijuana cigarette. During the investigation, the deputy also located an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle, the report stated. Ortega was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on $2,250 bail.
Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Glenn Blanco reported the following arrests:
—Joshua Clements, 21, of Rayne Court in Morgan City, was arrested at 4 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to pay fine. Clements was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $682.
—Charles Brooks, 54, of La. 182 in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:26 a.m. Saturday for possession of marijuana, driving under suspension, no vehicle license plate, no motor vehicle inspection sticker and an insurance violation. Brooks was taken to jail and held. Bail is set at $1,787.
—Ramon Figuerow-Lugo, 33, of Halsey Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:15 a.m. Saturday for DWI first offense, resisting an officer, flight from an officer and failure to dim headlights. He was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.
—Sheena Scully, 28, of Barrow Street in Amelia, was arrested at 11:12 p.m. Friday for simple battery.
Scully was taken to jail and released after posting $692 bail.
—John Verdin, 59, of Kathleen Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:31 a.m. Sunday for DWI first offense and failure to dim headlights. Verdin was taken to jail and held. No bail has been set at this time.
—Gary Draper, 41, of Brashear Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:03 p.m. Saturday on warrants for failure to appear for criminal neglect of family.
Draper was taken to jail and transferred to the Law Enforcement Center in Centerville by St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
—Shelia Ruffin, 56, of Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 12:40 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for a probation violation and failure to appear to pay probation fees, failure to appear to pay a fine and on a warrant for contempt of court.
—Aaron Dinger, 20, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:05 p.m. Thursday for illegal possession of stolen things (value $8,000.00), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—James Graves, 22, of Venus Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:05 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana.
Detectives were continuing their investigation into recent vehicle burglaries and executed a search warrant at a residence on Wren Street in Morgan City. During the search, a Rolex watch valued at $8,000 was recovered which had been taken in a vehicle burglary. While performing the search, officers found a small amount of marijuana along with drug paraphernalia.
Dinger and Graves were occupants of the residence at the time of the search, and were brought to the police station for further questioning. They were then both booked into city jail. Graves was released later on $742 bail. Dinger remains in custody with bail set at $20,000.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—James Dotherow, 56, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. Thursday on Old Spanish Trail in Berwick for disturbing the peace fifth offense. He is still being held with bail set at $190.
